Interview made by Cyril Bruyelle in May 2017

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I wanted to be a basketball player. At that time I was like 5 or 8 y.o. I was always thick, I always ate a lot. So it was a little hard for me to be a basketball player, when I wanted to eat so much.

With whom would you like to have a coffee?

Good question! Probably with Johan Jett. I would have at least a shot of espresso with her. Just to ask her: “tell me more about you, you mysterious individual… I won’t tell the world anything, just tell me more about you.” I feel in some ways, shapes aside, we are like the same person. I just want to see if we are the same person. So I want to have a coffee with Johan Jett!

If you could choose something that could be taught in every school in the world, what would it be?

I would teach them how to become confident songwriters, maybe something like a song writing class. Me growing up, the stuff that I wrote, I was always like “I don’t know if I should say this” and I felt I couldn’t if was not confident enough. So, I would tell the kids “keep writing, keep expressing yourself, keep saying what you want on paper. And then eventually, who knows, you’ll probably have a lot of audience: don’t be afraid!”.

To you, what’s that main characteristic that all human being have in common?

The main characteristic is that everybody has seduction within them, even people who you might not know will be thinking about sex all the time, well they are thinking about sex all the time. We all have that characteristic; we’re like “Ow!” (laugh)

To you, who is the happiest person on earth?

Oprah Winfrey! (laugh)

If you were President of the US, what would your first reform be?

Make weed legal for everybody in America, like “it’s mandatory, we’re going for the weed, we’re getting marijuana legal for the country of America” … and then the World. I’m coming for the world next! (laugh)

What do you need?

I need respect and support. I guess in a way I can force it, but no, I’m going to ask you to show it first and I’ll show it back. Almost like you treat people like you want to be treated.

What would you do if we gave you 1 million dollars now?

I am gonna make sure that in every inner cities – not just one but every inner cities - that they have everything they possibly need… All I need is weed, but I am going to make sure that everybody in every inner cities has... everything. And then buy myself a house.

Which innovation, realistic or not, would greatly ease your day-to-day life?

I live in Louisiana… here we have really bad potholes, so I guess I would see a pothole and I hit a button, and then the pothole gets covered and I will be able to just not break my tire.

What’s the news that affects you the most in your country these days?

I don’t know if I even turn off on my phone notifications that say “I demand Trump news”, because I do not want to hear anything about it. So that (referring to Trump) needs to go away. Ohhh.. I hate that guy.

Do you think your life is easier or more complicated than the life of your parents?

I guess from how they raised me, life is easier. I think that we both went through our own struggles but I know that I’m not living better than the way they were living, but I know I’m not living worst. They had to deal with something ten times worst than what I’m dealing with… Only now I have an opportunity to fight about it, without having to go through what they went to fight for it… I feel that it’s easier now, because I know that I can fight and I can fight for real.

If you had to create a company, what would it be?

You know, I always talk about weed, but I’m not going to give it a weed-answer…

I love kids. I was thinking about it the other day, I would have my own nursery for children. But I have a certain ticking time bomb before I’m like “Ouh, somebody else’s children: I need a break…” So I would create a day care and then have somebody else run it. But I’ll be coming in on Thursdays and Fridays and I’ll be like “we’re being good today: I’m here!”.

Can you draw something beautiful?

[Draw a “Fuck Trump”] This is supposed to be a dick, a flying dick.

Can you sing something beautiful?

Singing Kanye West’s song and doing her noises.

What are you afraid of?

I’m afraid of fear itself… I’m afraid of being afraid.

What is your dream?

My dream is to not be afraid. And to not let anybody make my art something that isn’t my art, or have it be diluted. But I also want my art to be accepted.

Close your eyes, you are in 2100, what do you see?

I see a whole bunch of “back in the future” shoes for some reason. You know, glow up Nike ones.
I see everybody wearing them for some reason, but there are still too expensive. Now I’m turning to a robot… Mh Mh ! I see everybody wearing dumb [shoes]: everybody is gonna have them!

What is the most beautiful thing that you’ve seen in your life?

My niece being born.

If you had to write a book about the current world, what would be the title?

I feel like I’ve been writing my book. “Queendom”, “Black excellence”: that’s the story I’ve been trying to tell everybody about. “Mother Earth”.

Who is God for you?

I’m God! Look at this [showing one of her tattoos]. I feel like I have a lot of believes in myself. I definitely go of my believes.

Which of your country's cultural specificities are you the proudest of?

None of it… And I’m definitely not going to say “this place”! I mean, we’re all dealing with something, ain’t nobody walking scot free, like safe anywhere they are. I’m not happy with none of them.

If you could do any job regardless of money, what would you do?

I would wanna help foster kids find a place, when they get out of foster care. That’s just something I’d want to do, period. Out here, when you turn 18, you are on the street. They just don’t care about you. These are kids who got put in there when they probably were 11 and can’t get accepted. That is what I wanna see. That’s something that needs to happen. I should not be dreaming about it, it should be something that we need to be doing. Every city, every place has clean water, at least. What I want is the stuff that we need. We can do it! We are just not doing it!

If you had to explain our planet to an alien what would you say?

How much, you all have been laughing at us? Have you all been making a joke out of us? I would wanna know everything about what they think of us.

If we can, in our head, have this vision of an alien, which is like this big head; we’ve must have seen something that gave us that illusion that this is an alien.  So on the flip side, what they are going through… They have probably seen Niel Armstrong. And be like “holy shit, what are you doing? What are you?” and concluded “oh, this is a human”. Now they probably have their little beam on our earth somewhere. Just like observing (she is imitating the alien looking) and saying “Look how dumb they look! (laugh) Look how messed up they are! Look at what they are doing.” But then again they could be ready to eat us, in my head I am just picturing Jack and the Beanstalk.

And you, which question would you like to ask to the world?

We have to band together, even when it comes to the separation of all the different commies. Everybody has to know that we are here for each other. I know a lot of countries that have dealt with worst. That is the part of the land of the free, that is all that we get. I would ask them to keep their head up.
