Irkutsk, RUSSIA - HR Manager

Olesya

Interview made by Cyril Bruyelle in July 2017

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I don't know why but I wanted to be a photo model when I was a kid. I did not want to take part in shows; I just wanted to be a cover girl. But I left this dream in my childhood of course.

With whom would you like to have a coffee?

Right now and in this wonderful place, I would like to drink a cup of magnificent coffee with my dearest and closest friends.

If you could choose something that could be taught in every school in the world, what would it be?

I think we need to revive traditions. Family traditions, national traditions… If there was a subject such as history of everybody’s clan, and if it were studied properly, I believe, much would change in the world.

To you, what’s the main characteristic that all human being have in common?

I think it is love.

To you, who is the happiest person on earth?

The one who hears himself and who lives in unity with nature.

If you were President of the US, what would your first reform be?

I won't answer this question.

What do you need?

I don't think that I need something. I have everything.

What would you do if we gave you 1 million dollars now?

I would donate this money for rehabilitation of nature, nature of Baikal first of all.

Which innovation, realistic or not, would greatly ease your day-to-day life?

I think if I could have a dive into the head of…Osho, for instance…for a couple of minutes. To comprehend his thoughts, to experience his state of mind and to be him for at least two minutes, I think much would change in my life. Actually, not only in my life, but also in everything around me.

What’s the news that affects you the most in your country these days?

I don't watch news at all. I don't think I can rely on the information that comes from the mass media. My friends and people I know tell me everything, which I want to know.

Do you think your life is easier or more complicated than the life of your parents?

Definitely better and I think I try to help them to dive into my world.

If you had to create a company, what would it be?

I thought about it many times. I am keen on the idea of an eco-village in Latvia, and I would like to build such village here on Baikal preserving such values, as nature safekeeping and the certain rules, which people should abide by to live in harmony with nature.

Can you draw something beautiful?

A piece of nature. It is life. There is nothing more beautiful in this world than nature around us.

Can you sing something beautiful?

No, I don't think I can.

What are you afraid of?

I've been thinking about the possible disappearance of Baikal a lot lately. It is really frightful, honestly! Watching the news I perceive the damages that people inflict on nature. It is really scary. What will happen in hundred years, what will our planet Earth be? The only thing that scares me is what people are doing.

What is your dream?

I think I want to travel around the whole world.  I want to travel with my family. Currently I don’t have that possibility, but I realize, how great it would be. How beautiful our planet is! And how every corner of the planet is beautiful! I want to take in the energy of every corner of the world.

Close your eyes, you are in 2100, what do you see?

I meditated on this subject. And I saw separation of two worlds. There is a technical progressive world, and there is a land deep inside of it, which has no technologies and no advancements. People live there, as they lived before. They live in tents made of natural materials, and follow traditions from the past. People from the technical world come to this second world in order to give birth to children, to bear them as it was centuries ago. This was my vision of the future world.  Everybody chooses something, which comes in his or her way.

What is the most beautiful thing that you’ve seen in your life?

I know it sounds ordinary, but it is Baikal. It is so different - every day, every minute. It changes, especially the Okhon Island. I think it is one of the most magic and powerful places on Earth known to me.

If you had to write a book about the current world, what would be the title?

I'd call it "Life as I See It"

Who is God for you?

If you learn to live in love with everything around you and accept people as they are, you will recognize God. God is we, God is everything, which surrounds us.

Which of your country's cultural specificities are you the proudest of?

Circle dances, ceremonials. It is a pity that we have lost these traditions, but time changes, and we took a shift in the world for different values leaving the materialistic world behind. I am happy that people started gathering together again, holding feasts, sitting by the fire and doing circle dances. I think that such traditions are a primary value of Russian people. It is their strength. When they unite, there is nothing stronger than the Russian spirit, trust me.

If you could do any job regardless of money, what would you do?

If I had such a chance, I'd help people. Those, who really need it. People around the world despite their nationalities.

If you had to explain our planet to an alien, what would you say?

Oh, it is simply a magic world. I'd show them around.

And you, which question would you like to ask the world?

I'd ask everyone… No, I'd rather summon to ask them to unite to make the world a better place. Otherwise we may simply lose it in the near future. So that our children and grandchildren could see the world as beautiful as it is now. If we could bring back the primeval beauty of nature, I guess it would be a miracle.
