Paris, FRANCE - Unemployed
Interview made by Cyril Bruyelle in December 2016
One night of December 2016, at the beginning of the project, I decided to go walk in the streets of Paris and try to find people to interview. I was looking for people that I couldn’t easily find through my network. Timotei was smoking joints and having fun with friends in a corner of a street. It was about midnight. With my friend who was accompanying me that day, we went to talk to them and Timotei was elected by his friends as the best one of them to answer my questions. I took off the camera of the bag, my friends kindly hold the light, and I started asking him questions. At that time, Timotei was unemployed, doing small jobs as Deliveroo delivery man.
With whom would you like to have a coffee?
With whoever? I’d say, Florence Foresti (a french humorist), because I like her.
If you could choose something that could be taught in every school in the world, what would it be?
Rolling blunts because it frees you to another world where you see things from a different perspective. And it enables you to ask yourself some questions.
To you, what’s the main characteristic that all human beings have in common?
Stupidity, or naivety.
To you, who is the happiest person on earth?
I don’t want to talk about money, it’s going to create an argument. But I think when you’ve succeeded in life you’re happy.
What do you need?
What would you do if we gave you 1 million dollars now?
I’d travel all over the world, starting from Los Angeles.
If you had to create a company, what would it be?
It would be in Film Making and it would bring forward people who have a gift because there are too many people in Paris who have something and who don’t get to show it. Me, I’d like to go look for those people and make something collectively.
Which innovation, realistic or not, would greatly ease your day-to-day life?
A robotic toothbrush or something like that, which would brush your teeth for you.
Can you draw something beautiful?
Can you sing something beautiful?
Oh.. my voice and music is not my things, so I won’t, sorry.
What are you afraid of?
The end of the World
What is your dream?
Have a beautiful family and take care of my people.
Close your eyes, you are in 2100, what do you see?
Robots everywhere, but robots that look like human. It’s a bit shocking, humans won’t be needed anymore, robots will be everywhere.
What’s the news that affects you the most in your country these days?
France is a really closed country you know, we’re not opening up to others, we’re a bit stuck.
What is the most beautiful thing that you’ve seen in your life?
A sunset at 6:15 pm at Concorde in Paris.
If you had to write a book about the current world, what would be the title?
The hidden face of life.
Who is God for you?
I don’t want to share my opinion; it is a source of conflict.
If you could do any job regardless of money, what would it be?
Growing weed, because it’s chill.
If you had to explain our planet to an alien, what would you say?
There are so many things to see, it’s incredible. But watch your back.
And you, which question would you like to ask the world?
Are you satisfied with the life you have?
